Flipkart Basic Introduction:
Flipkart was started in 2007 when the e-commerce industry was just starting its journey in India. Flipkart Company is registered in Singapore, but its headquarters are in Bangalore, India. The company is registered under the name of Flipkart Online Services Pvt. Ltd.
Flipkart Owner History in English:
The founders of Flipkart are Sachin Bansal and Binni Bansal, who earlier used to work for Amazon.com; during that time, the idea of starting an e-commerce company in India came to their mind. Sachin Bansal and Binni Bansal both are students of IIT Delhi and both belong to Chandigarh. They left the Amazon company to start their own company.
Beginning of Flipkart:
Initially, only books were sold on Flipkart, but gradually it expanded, and soon a wide variety of products started being sold on it. Flipkart emerged as a dynamic player in the Indian e-commerce industry.
As Flipkart grew, many investors started joining it. Flipkart displayed good results while maintaining the trust of investors. In 2008-09, total sales of about 40 million rupees were done. And the very next year, it increased to 200 million rupees.
2 Major Problems:
When Flipkart was launched, any e-commerce company had to face two major problems. The first difficulty was with online payment; many people did not want to make online payments, and there was a problem in setting up online payment gateways. That's why Flipkart introduced the cash on delivery option. Flipkart was the first company to launch the cash on delivery option for payment. And today all Indian e-commerce companies use this payment option.
The second problem was to deliver all the things on time. Delivering the goods on time is also a factor that determines the success of an e-commerce company. Flipkart solved this problem by launching its own supply chain management system, which made it easier to deliver the products on time.
